Hawke's Bay Regional Council needed an easy way to show if a catchment is exceeding the DIN limit based on an average of 5 years of sampling data. This would then be used by land owners to know if there land in the subcatchment will be required to have a Land Use Resource Consent from 1 June 2020.

Tukituki Dashboard

The Hawke's Bay Regional Council have a Tukituki Catchment Plan which sets water quality limits for levels of DIN. The catchment is divided into 17 sub-catchments, each of which has a monitoring site from which monthly samples inform council as to the status of the sub-catchment.

WebShed had to integrate into the councils Telemetry system to get all the data. The information was shown in three different ways to allow the user to interact with it in their preferred way. The map showed the subcatchments and then a colour coded icon was loaded over the catchment to show the current status related to its current DIN reading. Highcharts was used for displaying it as interactive graphs. The land owner can search for their address and it will place a pin on the map to show which subcatchment they are in if unsure.

This project was then extended to create a sub dashboard for each catchment to see more detailed results for DIN, DRP, MCI, E coli, Turbidity. Each of the graphs check the quality of the data and change colour depending on the quality. The user has the ability to turn on rainfall data ans well to see relationship.
