LOCAL GOVERNMENT
THE WEB MADE EASY

WebShed has a number of years of experience working in local government, WebShed understands how local government/councils operate and can provide custom built solutions to address council specific issues.

WebShed has years of experience as an employee of, and a contractor to Councils. WebShed has a deep understanding of the inner workings of Councils and the challenges they face.

Council Specific CMS

We have a Content Management System that has been built specifically with Local Government/Councils in mind. It focuses on how Councils work and their staff. By doing this, Councils gain huge benefits.

Councils benefit because the custom-built systems are designed to streamline tasks and save them time. Our CMS is built using open source CMS system SilverStripe which a number of Councils in New Zealand already use.

  • Massive staff time savings
  • Up and running in a short amount of time
  • Cost effective
  • Ability to customize
  • Flexible
  • Less reliance upon designers
  • SilverStripe CMS

Web Audits/Reports

We can help your Council to get a good understanding of your current website and how it is performing. We can review your current site and provide a report so you know what is working and what needs improvement.

Our reports can cover a number of things depending upon your budget and how deep a review you're after. We have worked with a number of Councils to create these reports to help them with their current and future decisions around websites.

What makes our reports different?

We focus on making it easy for the Council to understand and we also take both website customers into account (internal and external users).

Online Presentations

Yass Valley Council has always gone out to the public to present their Draft Operational Plan. In 2020, with COVID-19 lockdown rules, they needed a new way to inform and present to the public. WebShed helped with an online solution for this problem.

Data Visualisation

Hawke's Bay Regional Council needed an easy way to show if a catchment is exceeding the DIN limit based on an average of 5 years of sampling data. Land owners need this information to determine if their land in the subcatchment will be required to have a Land Use Resource Consent from 1 June 2020.

Websites

Wairoa, Napier, Hastings, Central Hawke's Bay and Hawke's Bay Regional Council worked together to build their new websites. WebShed helped with user interface, user experience, wireframing, website migration and project managed this large website project delivering five individual websites.
