So what's new?

Version 5.0.0 of the WebShed Plugin has been released. Some of our clients are now getting to experience these new changes. This big upgrade brings you:

• The ability to select a template for each page
• A newly re-designed block interface that removes extra clicks saving you time
• New on page quick edits capability allowing users to edit straight from the website front end
• Admin toolbar to allow quick access to change from draft to the published site

Let's explore some of these new changes in more detail.

What do Templates allow you to do?

With the introduction of templates you now have the ability to set a completely different design for each page. Previously you had to select the blank layout option and create the design every time you created a page. This was time consuming when you needed a new page that used the same design.

With templates you can now select the template you want to use and just like that the page is using that design ready for you to add your elements to the page.

Newly re-designed block interface

Our newly re-designed block interface on the "Layout Tab" has removed the two separate buttons for block settings and element settings. You now have one edit button that is a dropdown menu. This new menu allows you to edit the block settings, element settings, element items and gives you the ability to add an element item straight from the dropdown menu.

These changes were aimed at making things simpler and saving the user extra clicks. What used to take three clicks now just takes one, huge savings.

What are quick page edits?

Quick pages edits are a new way to edit the page blocks and elements, meaning there are now three different ways to edit these. This allows the user to be able to use the method that they are most comfortable with.

Quick page edits have been designed for users that do no use the website CMS that often. It allows them to login to the CMS backend and then they can go straight to the page on the website. From there they can select a toggle button to turn on quick page edits. Once this is turned on the users will see new buttons that give them the ability to edit the block, element or element items straight from the page.

If you are a visual person then this is the interface for you.

Admin toolbar

The admin toolbar is a new toolbar that shows over the website when you are logged in. It shows you what version of the site you are looking at (draft or published). It allows you to quickly swap between them with just a click.

New training videos available

With these new changes we have created some new training videos that supersede v2.8+. Please make sure you watch the correct video for your version of our plugin. If you are unsure you can find out your version by logging into the "My Account" button on our website or just email us and we will let you know.

When will I be seeing these new changes?

This will be different for everyone of our clients. If you are a new client you will be getting these straight away. For our existing clients we have already started rolling this out to some that were requiring upgrades because their current version came out of the support window. A lot of websites will be moving to this new version next year.
